cвяза́ть [svee-zát'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - вяза́ть

to knit, to tie up

Examples

Э́ти ва́режки связа́ла моя́ бабу́шка.

é-tee vá-reesh-kee svee-zá-la ma-yá bá-bush-ka

These mittens were knitted by my grandmother.
Пле́ннику связа́ли ру́ки.

plyén-nee-ky svee-zá-lee rúkee

The prisoner had his hands tied.

сшить [ssheet'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - шить

to sew, to sew together, to tailor

Examples

Бо́льшую часть оде́жды она́ сши́ла себе́ сама́.

ból'-shu-yu chast'a-dyézh-dy a-ná sshée-la see-byé sa-má

She made (sewed) most of the clothes herself.
Дава́й я тебе́ сама́ сошью́ пла́тье на выпускно́й?

da-váî ya tee-bye sa-má sash'-yú plát'-ye na vy-pusk-nóî

Let me sew a prom dress for you?

вышива́ть [vy-shee-vát'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - вы́шить

to embroider

Examples

Она́ вышива́ет кре́стиком и би́сером.

a-ná vy-shee-vá-eet kryés-tee-kam ee bée-see-ram

She does cross-stitching and embroiders with beads.
Вышива́ть она́ не люби́ла, так как находи́ла э́то заня́тие бесполе́зным.

vy-shee-vát' a-ná nye lyu-bée-la, tak kak na-ha-dée-la é-ta za-nyá-tee-ye bees-pa-lyéz-nym
