mnye prees-néel-sya kash-már

I had a nightmare.

to lag behind, to be behind

Do not lag behind!

терпе́ть [teer-pyét'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - вы́терпеть

to endure, to tolerate, to bear, to stand

Examples

Терпе́ть не могу́, когда́ ты так говори́шь!

teer-pyét nye na-gú, kag-dá ty tak ga-va-réesh

I can't stand it when you say that!
Они́ до́лго его́ терпе́ли, да не вы́терпели, и уво́лили.

a-née dól-ga ee-vó teer-pyé-lee, da nye vý-teer-pye-lee ee u-vó-lee-lee

They tolerated him for a long time, but one day could not do it anymore and fired him.

стара́ться [sta-rá-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - постара́ться

to try, to seek, to endeavour

Examples

Я стара́юсь, как могу́, но ничего́ не получа́ется.

ya sta-rá-yus' kak ma-gú, no nee-chee-vó nye pa-lu-chá-ee-tsa

I'm trying my best but can't make it.
Я стара́лась не пропусти́ть ни одного́ его́ сло́ва.

ya sta-rá-las' nye pra-pus-téet' nee ad-na-vó ee-vó sló-va

I tried not to miss any of his words.

сокро́вище [sak-ró-vee-sche] Noun

treasure, riches; darling

Examples

На вы́ставке посети́тели мо́гут наслади́ться сокро́вищами мирово́й культу́ры.

na výs-taf-kye pa-see-tée-tee-lee mó-gut nas-la-dée-tsa sak-ró-vee-schá-mee mee-ra-vói kul'-tú-ry

At the exhibition visitors can enjoy the treasures of world culture.

поплати́ться [pa-pla-tée-tsa] Verb

to pay for something one has done

Examples

Ты мне за э́то попла́тишься!

ty mnye za é-ta po-plá-teesh-sya

You'll pay me for this!
Он поплати́лся здоро́вьем за свою́ любо́вь к сигаре́там.

on pa-pla-téel-sya zda-róv'-yem za sva-yú lyu-bóf' k see-ga-ryé-tam

He paid with health for his love to cigarettes.

годи́ться [ga-dée-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - пригоди́ться

to suit (for purpose), to be of use (to)

Examples

Э́то никуда́ не годи́тся.

é-ta nee-ku-dá nye ga-dée-tsa

This is good for nothing.
Да они́ тебе́ в подмётки не годя́тся!

da a-née tee-býe f pad-myót-kee nye ga-dyá-tsa

They are unable to hold a candle to you! (They don't even suit to be your soles! - expression)

спеши́ть [spee-shéet'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - поспеши́ть

to be in a hurry, to hasten

Examples

Куда́ ты так спеши́шь?

ku-dá ty tak spee-shéesh

Where are you in such a hurry?
Он спеши́л, а потому́ не смог говори́ть с на́ми.

on spee-shéel, a pa-ta-mú nye smok ga-va-réet' s ná-mee

He was in a hurry, so he could not talk to us.

equally, in equal parts

Examples

Голоса́ раздели́лись по́ровну.

ga-la-sá raz-dee-lée-lees' pó-rav-nu

The votes divided equally.
По о́бщему пра́вилу при разво́де иму́щество де́лится ме́жду супру́гами по́ровну.

We must hurry, the train leaves in 20 minutes.
