доса́да [da-sá-da] Noun, feminine

vexation, disappointment

Examples

Хоть вой с доса́ды!

hot' voi s da-sá-dy

You could just scream from frustration! (it's more than one can bear!)
Вы не придёте? Кака́я доса́да!

vy nye pree-dyó-tye? ka-ká-ya da-sá-da

You won't come? What a pity!

ну ты даёшь [nu ty da-yósh] Phrase, variation - "ну вы даёте"

expresses surprise with someone (lit. - wow you give)

Examples

Ну ты даёшь! Я так не уме́ю.

nu ty da-yósh! ya tak nye u-myé-yu

Wow man! I can't do what you are doing.
Ну вы даёте, вас все обыска́лись уже́, а вы тут прохлажда́етесь!

nu vy da-yó-tye, vas vsye a-bys-ká-lees' u-zhé, a vy tut prah-lazh-dá-ee-tyes'

What kind of people are you? Everybody is looking for you everywhere, and you are here enjoying yourself!

вот оно́ что [vot a-nó chto] Phrase

expresses amazement, surprise, admiration

Examples

Ах вот оно́ что... Что же вы ра́ньше не сказа́ли?

ah vot a-nó chto, chto zhe vy rán'-she nye ska-zá-lee

Oh, this is how... Why did not you say before?
Вот оно́ что ока́зывается! А я-то всё поня́ть не могла́, что не так.

vot a-nó chto a-ká-zy-va-ee-tsa! a ya-ta vsyo pa-nyát' nye mag-la, chto nye tak

Oh this is how it turns out! And I was struggling to understand all that time, what was wrong.

насма́рку [nas-már-ku] Adverb, used only in combinations

with no positive outcome, ~go down the drain

Examples

И́з-за проливно́го дождя́ все на́ши пла́ны пошли́ насма́рку.

eez-za pra-leev-nó-va dazh-dyá fsye ná-shee plá-ny pash-lée nas-már-ku

Because of the pouring rain, all our plans went down the drain.
Тепе́рь придётся всё переде́лывать, все уси́лия насма́рку!

tee-pyér' pree-dyó-tsa vsyo pye-rye-dyé-ly-vat', vsye u-sée-lee-ya nas-már-ku

Now we have to redo everything, all the efforts are down the drain!

вот те на [vot tye na] Phrase

expresses surprise (rather not nice)

Examples

Вот те на! Э́то с каки́х э́то пор ты сла́дкое не ешь?

vot tye na! é-ta s ka-kéeh é-ta por ty slát-ka-ye nye yesh?

Really? And since when do you not eat sweets?
Вот те на! А мы-то и не зна́ли ничего́!

vot tye na! a my-ta ee nye zná-lee nee-chee-vó

Wow! And we knew nothing at all!

вот оно́ как [vot a-nó kak] Phrase

expresses surprise or amazement (about just learned facts)

Examples

Ах вот оно́ как! А я-то поня́ть не мог.

ah vot a-nó kak, a ya ta pa-nyát' nye mok

Oh, I see now! I could not understand before.
Вон оно́ как получа́ется...

vot a-nó kak pa-lu-chá-ee-tsa

Oh it's like that... (Look how it turned out...)

да ну тебя́ [da nu tee-býa] Phrase, in plural - "да ну вас"

expresses annoyance, disappointment, displeasure

Examples

Да ну тебя́ с твои́ми прико́лами!

da nu tee-byá s tva-ée-mee pree-kó-la-mee

Get away with your jokes!
Да ну вас, с ва́ми невозмо́жно серьёзно разгова́ривать!

da nu vas, s vá-mee nee-vaz-mózh-na seer'-yoz-na raz-ga-vá-ree-vat'

Get away, you people! it's impossible to talk to you seriously!

обжо́ра [ab-zhó-ra] Noun, masculine or feminine

glutton, gormandizer

Examples

Ты съел весь торт в одино́чку, обжо́ра!

ty s-yel vyes' tort v a-dee-nóch-ku, ab-zhó-ra

You ate the whole cake alone, you glutton!
Он хоть и ма́ленький, но тако́й обжо́ра!

on hot' ee má-lyen'-keei, no ta-kói ab-zhó-ra

He is small, but such a glutton!

копа́ться [ka-pá-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - прокопа́ться

to dig; to probe; to dawdle

Examples

Ну что ты там копа́ешься?

nu chto ty tam ka-pá-eesh-sya

Why are you so long? (Over what are you dawdling there?)
Де́ти копа́лись в песке́.

dyé-tee ka-pá-lees' f pees-kyé

Children were playing in the sand.

притворя́ться [pree-tva-ryá-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - притвори́ться

to feign, to pretend, to act, to simulate

Examples

Он притвори́лся спя́щим.

on pree-tva-réel-sya spyá-scheem

He pretended to be asleep.
Она́ притвори́лась, что ничего́ не слы́шала.

a-na pree-tva-rée-las', chto nee-chee-vo nye slý-sha-la

She pretended not to hear anything.
