вдре́безги [vdryé-beez-gee] Adverb

into smithereens, to pieces

Examples

Ва́за упа́ла и разби́лась вдре́безги.

vá-za u-pá-la ee raz-bée-las' vdryé-beez-ge

The vase fell down and smashed to smithereens.
Он был пьян вдре́безги.

He was blind drunk.

объеде́ние [ab-yee-dyé-nee-ye] Noun, neuter

delicious, out of this world

Examples

Пироги́ у вас - про́сто объеде́ние!

pee-ra-gée u vas prós-ta ab-yee-dyé-nee-ye

Your pies are delicious!
Ну как, вку́сно? - Объеде́ние!

nu kak, fkús-na? - ab-yee-dyé-nee-ye

So how, is it good (tasty)? - Out of this world!

безде́льник [beez-dyél'-neek] Noun, masculine

idler, loafer, lazybones, good-for-nothing

Examples

Безде́льники, це́лыми дня́ми в свое́й ко́мнате сиди́те и му́сор вы́нести не мо́жете!

beez-dyél'-nee-kee, tsé-ly-mee dnyá-mee f sva-yéi kóm-na-tye see-dée-ty ee mú-sar vý-nees-tee nye mó-zhe-tye

Loafers, sitting in your room all day and can't take out the garbage!
В селе́ его́ зна́ют как безде́льника и тунея́дца.

запропасти́ться [za-pra-pas-tée-tsa] Verb, perfective

to get lost, to disappear

Examples

Ты куда́ запропасти́лся?

ty ku-dá za-pra-pas-téel-sya

Where are you? (Where did you disappear?)
Ты не ви́дел, куда́ мой телефо́н запропасти́лся?

ty nye vée-deel, ku-dá moi tee-lee-phón za-pra-pas-téel-sya

Have you seen my phone? (Have you seen where my phone disappeared?)

вот э́то да [vot é-ta da] Phrase

expresses amazement and surprise

Examples

Вот э́то да! Кто бы мог поду́мать?

vot é-ta da! kto by mok pa-dú-mat'?

Wow! Who would have thought?
Вот э́то да! Тако́го мы не ожида́ли...

vot é-ta da! ta-kó-va my nye a-zhee-dá-lee

Wow! We did not expect that...

понаро́шку [pa-na-rósh-ku] Adverb, variation - "понаро́шке"

for fun, pretending, in pretence

Examples

Ты э́то серьёзно и́ли понаро́шку?

ty é-ta seer'-yoz-na ée-lee pa-na-rósh-ku

Are you serious or kidding?
В игре́ всё не по-настоя́щему, а понаро́шку.

v eeg-ryé fsyo nye pa-nas-ta-yá-schee-mu, a pa-na-rósh-ku

In a game, everything is not real but for fun.

издева́ться [eez-dye-vát'-sya] Verb, imperfective

to jeer, to scoff, to mock, to bully, to taunt

Examples

Ты что, надо мной издева́ешься?

ty chto, na-da mnói eez-dye-vá-eesh-sya

Are you mocking me?
В шко́ле над ним постоя́нно издева́лись однокла́ссники.

f shkó-lye nad neem pas-ta-yán-na eez-dye-vá-lees' ad-na-klás-nee-kee

In school, his classmates constantly mocked him.

вя́нуть [vyá-nut'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - завя́нуть

to wither, to fade

Examples

Цветы́ на подоко́ннике на́чали вя́нуть без воды́.

tsvye-tý na pa-da-kón-nee-kye ná-cha-lee vyá-nut' byez va-dý

The flowers on the windowsill began to wilt without water.
У меня́ у́ши вя́нут от его́ рече́й.

u mee-nyá ú-shee vyá-nut at ye-vó ree-chei

I'm getting sick from hearing his speeches.

злопа́мятный [zla-pá-myat-nyi] Adjective

vindictive, rancorous, unforgiving

Examples

Како́й ты злопа́мятный!

ka-kói ty zla-pá-myat-nyi

How unforgiving you are!
Не будь тако́й злопа́мятной, научи́сь проща́ть.

nye but' ta-kói zla-pá-myat-noi, na-u-chées' pra-schát'

Do not be so rancorous, learn to forgive.

ещё чего́ [ye-schó chee-vó] Phrase

expresses a sharp disagreement, protest, displeasure with smth.

Examples

Ну ещё чего́! А бо́льше вам ничего́ не на́до?

nu ye-schó chee-vó! a ból'-she vam nee-chee-vó nye ná-da

Pff, no way! Anything else I can help you with? (sarcastic)
Придёшь за́втра в шесть у́тра. - Ну ещё чего́!

pree-dyósh závt-ra f shest' ut-rá. - nu ye-schó chee-vó!

You'll come tomorrow at six in the morning. - No way!
