ссо́ра [ssó-ra] Noun, feminine

quarrel, altercation, falling-out

  • Ме́жду ни́ми произошла́ ссо́ра.

    myézh-du née-mee pra-ee-zash-lá ssó-ra

    They had an altercation.

  • Она́ с ним в ссо́ре.

    a-ná s neem f ssó-rye

    She has fallen out with him.

мо́лча [mól-cha] Adverb

silently, in silence, without a word

  • Они́ мо́лча смотре́ли друг на дру́га.

    a-née mól-cha smat-ryé-lee druk na drú-ga

    They were looking at each other in silence.

  • Он мо́лча встал и вы́шел из ко́мнаты.

    on mól-cha fstal ee vý-shel eez kóm-na-ty

    He stood up in silence and left the room.

помири́ться [pa-mee-rée-tsa] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - мири́ться

to make it up, to make peace, to become reconciled

  • А мы уже́ помири́лись.

    a my u-zhé pa-mee-rée-lees'

    We have already made up.

  • Дава́йте помири́мся.

    da-váî-tye pa-mée-reem-sya

    Let's make it up.

мири́ться [mee-rée-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - помири́ться

to make it up, to make peace, to become reconciled; to accept, to bear with

  • Они́ ссо́рились и мири́лись по семь раз на дню.

    a-née ssó-ree-lees' ee mee-rée-lees' pa syem' raz na dnyu

    They quarreled and reconciled seven times a day.

  • Он не привы́к мири́ться с неуда́чами.

    on nye pree-výk mee-rée-tsa s nye-u-dá-cha-mee

    He is not used to accept failures.

дразни́ть [draz-néet'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - подразни́ть

to tease, to mock

  • Не дразни́ соба́ку.

    nye draz-née sa-bá-ku

    Do not tease the dog.

  • Заче́м ты дра́знишь брата?

    za-chyém ty dráz-neesh' brá-ta

    Why are you mocking/teasing your brother?

молча́ть [mal-chat'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - замолча́ть

to be / to keep / to remain silent

  • Ну что ты молчи́шь?

    nu chto ty mal-chéesh

    Why are you silent?

  • Он молча́л всю доро́гу.

    on mal-chál fsyu da-ró-gu

    He was silent all the way.

извини́ть [eez-vee-néet'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - извиня́ть

to pardon, to excuse

  • Извини́те, вы не подска́жете, где метро́?

    eez-vee-née-tye, vy nye pad-ská-zhee-tye, gdye na-hó-dee-tsa meet-ró

    Excuse me, can you tell me where the subway is?

  • Извини́, что так получи́лось.

    eez-vee-née, chto tak pa-lu-chée-las'

    I'm sorry that it happened this way.

я́бедничать [ya-beed-nee-cheet'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - ная́бедничать

to report another's wrongdoing

  • Ча́ще всего́, я́бедничая, ребёнок получа́ет дополни́тельное внима́ние педаго́га.

    chá-sche vsee-vó, yá-beed-nee-cha-ya, ree-byó-nak pa-lu-chá-eet da-pal-née-teel'-na-ye vnee-má-nee-ye pee-da-gó-ga

объясни́ться [ab-yee-snée-tsa] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - объясня́ться

to explain yourself, to have it out with somebody

  • Тебе́ придётся объясни́ться.

    tee-byé pree-dyó-tsa ab-yee-snée-tsa

    You'll have to explain yourself.

  • Он объясни́лся ей в любви́.

    on ab-yee-snéel-sya yeî v lyub-vée

    He made a declaration of love to her.
