роди́ться [ra-dée-tsa] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - рожда́ться

to be born

Examples

Он роди́лся 29-го февраля́.

on ra-déel-sya dvá-tsat' dee-vyá-ta-va feev-ra-lyá

He was born on February 29th.
Вчера́ у них родила́сь до́чка.

vchye-rá u neeh ra-dée-lás' dóch-ka

Yesterday they had a daughter.

свари́ть [sva-réet'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - вари́ть

to cook by boiling

Examples

Свари́ карто́шки к у́жину.

sva-rée kar-tósh-kee k ú-zhee-nu

Boil some potatoes for dinner.
Ма́ма свари́ла суп, пошли́ есть.

má-ma sva-rée-la sup, pash-lee yest'

Mum cooked a soup, let's go eat.

проспа́ть [pra-spat'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - просыпа́ть

to sleep (for some time); to oversleep, to miss (by sleeping)

Examples

По́сле вчера́шней вечери́нки мы проспа́ли до ча́су дня.

pós-lye vchye-rásh-nyeî vye-chye-réen-kee my pra-spá-lee da chá-su dnya

After yesterday's party, we slept until one in the afternoon.
Ты почему́ не пришла́ вчера́? - Я проспала́.

ty pa-chee-mú nye preesh-lá vchee-rá? - ya pra-spa-lá

Why did not you come yesterday? - I overslept.

разу́ться [ra-zú-tsa] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - разува́ться

to take off one's shoes

Examples

Разу́йся, пре́жде чем заходи́ть в ко́мнату.

ra-zúî-sya, pyézh-dye chyem za-ha-déet' v kóm-na-tu

Take off your shoes before entering the room.
Он прошёл в дом не разу́вшись.

on pra-shól v dom nye ra-zúv-shees'

He walked into the house without taking off his shoes.

Examples

Э́ти докуме́нты должны́ бы́ли сохрани́ться в архи́ве.

é-tee da-ku-myén-ty dalzh-ný bý-lee sah-ra-née-tsa v ar-hée-vye

These documents must have been preserved in the archive.
Мы запроси́ли из архи́ва за́писи за 2015-й год.

dumbbells

Here there are 4, 5 and 6 kilogram dumbbells.
Я люблю́ прораба́тывать мы́шцы рук с ганте́лями.

I like to work out the muscles of the arms with dumbbells.

обу́ться [a-bú-tsa] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - обува́ться

to put on one's shoes

Examples

Помоги́ ребёнку обу́ться.

pa-ma-gée ree-byón-ku a-bú-tsa

Help the kid to put the shoes on.
Она́ присе́ла на скаме́йку, что́бы обу́ться.

a-ná pree-syé-la na ska-myéî-ku, chtó-by a-bú-tsa

She sat down on the bench to put the shoes on.

скача́ть [ska-chát'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - ска́чивать

to download (colloquial)

Examples
