Anita says:
Hello, in the first example, the word килогра́мм doesn’t need to be in genitive despite being after a number? Thanks.
Learn Russian Words says:
Hi Anita,
Without a numeral, we can only use the Genitive case: несколько лишних килограммов.
In combination with a numeral, both options are correct: 100 грамм / 100 граммов, пять килограмм / пять килограммов.
Anita says:
Does this option apply only to килограмм? How about other nouns eg. кни́га, час?
Learn Russian Words says:
It only applies to grams and kilograms.
