Examples

Он вы́скочил из до́ма как был, в хала́те и та́пках.

on výs-ka-cheel eez dó-ma kak byl, f ha-lá-tye ee táp-kah

He run out of the house as he was, in a bathrobe and home slippers.
В но́мере есть ба́нный хала́т и та́почки.

v nó-mee-rye yest' bán-nyî ha-lát ee tá-pach-kee

There are a bathrobe and slippers in the room.

треуго́льник [tree-u-gól'-neek] Noun, masculine

triangle

Examples

Сам того́ не жела́я, он оказа́лся в любо́вном треуго́льнике.

sam ta-vó nye zhee-lá-ya, on a-ka-zál-sya v lyu-bóv-nam tree-u-gól'-nee-kye

Unwittingly, he found himself in a love triangle.
Равнобе́дренный треуго́льник - э́то тот, у кото́рого две сто́роны равны́

rav-na-byéd-reen-nyî tree-u-gól'-neek - é-ta tot, u ka-tó-ra-va dvye stó-ra-ny rav-ný

An isosceles triangle is one with two sides equal.

хра́брый [hráb-ryî] Adjective

brave; courageous, valiant, gallant

Examples

Вы о́чень хра́брый челове́к.

vy ó-cheen' hráb-ryî chee-la-vyék

You are a very brave person.
Все э́ти хра́брые заявле́ния нельзя́ слу́шать без ске́псиса.

fsye é-tee hráb-ry-ye za-eev-lyé-nee-ya neel'-zyá slú-shat' byes skyép-see-sa

All these brave statements cannot be taken (listened to) without skepticism.

подойти́ [pa-daî-tée] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - подходи́ть

to come up to, to approach; to suit

Examples

Молодо́й челове́к подошёл к нам и предста́вился.

ma-la-dóî chee-la-vyék pa-da-shél k nam ee preets-tá-veel-sya

The young man came up to us and introduced himself.
Подойди́те побли́же к окну́.

pa-daî-dée-tye pa-blée-zhe k ak-nú

Come closer to the window.

си́ла во́ли [sée-la vó-lee] Phrase

willpower

Examples

У тебя́ потряса́ющая си́ла во́ли.

u tee-byá pat-ree-sá-yu-schya-ya sée-la vó-lee

You have tremendous willpower.
Он зна́ет, что э́то разруша́ет его́ здоро́вье, но бро́сить не хвата́ет си́лы во́ли.

on zná-eet, chto é-ta raz-ru-shá-eet ye-vó zda-róv'-ye, no bró-seet' nye hva-tá-eet sée-ly vó-lee

He knows that this is destroying his health, but he lacks the willpower to quit.

зли́ться [zlée-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - разозли́ться

to be angry

Examples

Не злись на них, они́ же не специа́льно!

nye zlees' na neeh, a-née zhe nye spee-tsee-ál'-na

Don't be mad at them, they did not do it on purpose!
Мо́жно ли́бо мо́лча зли́ться, ли́бо попыта́ться реши́ть пробле́му сами́м.

mózh-na lée-ba mól-cha zlée-tsa, lée-ba pa-py-tá-tsa ree-shéet' prab-lyé-mu sa-méem

We can either be angry in silence or try to solve the problem ourselves.

to shave

Examples

He showered and shaved.
Тебе́ сто́ило бы побри́ться пе́ред интервью́.

You should shave before the interview.

отдохну́ть [at-dah-nút'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - отдыха́ть

to have/take a rest

Examples

Куда́ ты опя́ть ухо́дишь? Сядь, посиди́, отдохни́!

ku-dá ty a-pyát' u-hó-deesh'? syat', pa-see-dée, at-dah-née!

Where are you going again? Sit down, have some rest!
Мы отли́чно отдохну́ли на мо́ре.

my at-léech-na at-dah-nú-lee na mó-rye

We had a great vacation at sea.

догово́р [da-ga-vór] Noun, masculine

contract, agreement

Examples

Ему́ пришло́сь подписа́ть догово́р о неразглаше́нии.

ye-mú preesh-lós' pat-pee-sát' da-ga-vór a nee-raz-gla-shé-nee-ee

He had to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Покупа́тель обя́зан уплати́ть предусмо́тренную догово́ром ку́пли-прода́жи це́ну това́ра.
