mist, fog

Examples

С утра́ стои́т тума́н.

s ut-rá sta-éet tu-mán

It's foggy since the morning.
И́з-за густо́го тума́на ви́димость на доро́ге была́ о́чень плохо́й.

eez-za gus-tó-va tu-má-na vee-dee-mast' na da-ró-gye by-lá ó-cheen' pla-hóî

Visibility on the road was very poor due to dense fog.

беспоко́иться [bees-pa-kó-ee-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - обеспоко́иться, побеспоко́иться

to worry, to be anxious

Examples

Обо мне́ не беспоко́йтесь, я в поря́дке.

a-ba mnye nye bees-pa-kóî-tees', ya f pa-ryát-kye

Don't worry about me, I'm fine.
Ма́ма всегда́ о тебе́ беспоко́ится.

má-ma fseeg-dá a tee-byé bees-pa-kó-ee-tsa

Mom is always worried about you.

изуми́тельный [ee-zu-mée-teel'-nyî] Adjective

amazing, astounding, astonishing; wonderful, marvellous

Examples

Ве́чер был про́сто изуми́тельным, спаси́бо.

vyé-chyer byl prós-ta ee-zu-mée-teel'-nym, spa-sée-ba

The evening was just amazing, thank you.
Толпа́ собрала́сь с изуми́тельной ско́ростью.

tal-pá sab-ra-lás' s ee-zu-mée-teel'-naî skó-rast'-yu

The crowd gathered with amazing speed.

чаепи́тие [cha-ee-pée-tee-ye] Noun, neuter

tea-drinking, tea party

Examples

Сего́дня у нас в кла́ссе по́сле уро́ков чаепи́тие.

se-vód-nya u nas f klás-sye pós-lye u-ró-kaf cha-ee-pée-tee-ye

Today after the lessons, we have a tea party in the classroom.
Они́ пригласи́ли меня́ на чаепи́тие.

a-née pree-gla-sée-lee mee-nya na cha-ee-pée-tee-ye

They invited me to a tea party.

потяну́ться [pa-tee-nú-tsa] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - тяну́ться

to stretch, to reach for; to stretch oneself

Examples

Просну́вшись, она́ сла́дко потяну́лась в тёплой посте́ли.

pras-núf-shees', a-ná slát-ka pa-tee-nú-las' f tyóp-laî pas-tyé-lee

Having woken up, she sweetly stretched in the warm bed.
Он потяну́лся к звоня́щему телефо́ну.

striking, amazing, startling, staggering

Examples

У него́ порази́тельный кругозо́р.

u nee-vó pa-ra-zée-teel'-nyî kru-ga-zór

He has an amazing range of interests.
Раста́явшие ледники́ обнажи́ли порази́тельные нахо́дки.

The melted glaciers have revealed startling finds.

puddle, pool

Examples

По́сле дождя́ на у́лице лу́жи.

pós-lye dazh-dyá na ú-lee-tse lú-zhee

After the rain, there are puddles outside.
Огро́мная лу́жа образова́лась и́з-за про́рванной трубы́.

mood, frame of mind

She was in no mood to continue the conversation.

heavy rain, shower, cloudburst
