поня́тно [pa-nyát-na] Adverb

clear, understandable; I see!

Examples

Тебе́ всё поня́тно?

tee-byé vsyo pa-nyát-na

Is it clear? (Do you understand everything?)
Бы́ло поня́тно, что он не собира́ется уходи́ть.

bý-la pa-nyát-na, chto on nye sa-bee-rá-ee-tsa u-ha-déet'

It was clear that he was not going to leave.

спаси́бо [spa-sée-ba] Particle

thanks, thank you

Examples

Спаси́бо большо́е за по́мощь.

spa-sée-ba bal'-shó-ye za pó-masch

Thanks a lot for your help.
Я всё для них сде́лала, а мне никто́ да́же спаси́бо не сказа́л.

ya fsyo dlya neeh sdyé-la-la, a mnye neek-tó dá-zhe spa-sée-ba nye ska-zál

I did everything for them, but no one even thanked me.

dream (when sleeping), sleep

Examples

Он забы́лся глубо́ким сном.

He collapsed into a deep sleep.
Мне присни́лся хоро́ший сон.

mnye prees-néel-sya ha-ró-sheeî son

I had a good dream.

хорошо́ [ha-ra-shó] Adverb

good, well

Examples

Хорошо́ у вас, ую́тно.

ha-ra-shó u vas, u-yút-na

It feels good at your place, cozy.
В магази́н зашёл хорошо́ оде́тый мужчи́на.

v ma-ga-zéen za-shól ha-ra-shó a-dyé-tyî mu-schée-na

A well-dressed man entered the shop.

уста́ть [us-tát'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - устава́ть

to get tired

Examples

Я так уста́ла, е́ле на нога́х стою́.

ya tak us-tá-la, yé-lye na na-gáh sta-yú

I'm so tired, I can barely stand on my feet.
Вы не уста́ли?

vy nye us-tá-lee

You're not tired?

свобо́дно [sva-bód-na] Adverb

vacant, free, freely; loose, loosely

Examples

Извини́те, э́то ме́сто свобо́дно?

eez-vee-née-tee, é-ta myés-ta sva-bód-na

Excuse me, is this place free?
Э́то пла́тье сиди́т дово́льно свобо́дно.

é-ta plát'-ye see-déet da-vól'-na sva-bód-na

This dress sits quite loosely.

за́нято [zá-nee-ta] Adverb

busy, occupied

Examples

Я позвони́л, но там бы́ло за́нято.

ya paz-va-néel, no tam bý-la zá-nee-ta

I called, but the line was busy.
Прости́те, здесь не за́нято?

pras-tée-tee, zdyes' nye zá-nee-ta

Excuse me, is this place taken (occupied)?

мо́жно [mózh-na] Adverb

allowed, one can

Examples

Мо́жно войти́?

mózh-na vai-tée

Can I come in?
Хо́лодно здесь, так и заболе́ть мо́жно.

hó-lad-na zdyes', tak ee za-ba-lyét' mózh-na

It's cold here, one can get sick like that.

нельзя́ [neel'-zyá] Predicate noun

not allowed, one cannot, one should not

Examples

Сюда́ нельзя́ посторо́нним.

syu-dá neel'-zya pas-ta-rón-neem

Strangers are not allowed here.
Нельзя́ так с людьми́ обраща́ться.

neel'-zyá tak s lyud'-mée ab-ra-schá-tsa

You can not treat people like that.

захоте́ться [za-ha-tyé-tsa] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - хоте́ться

to feel like, to crave for

Examples

Я обеща́ю, тебе́ так понра́вится, что не захо́чется уходи́ть.

ya a-bee-schá-yu, tee-byé tak pan-rá-vee-tsa, chto nye za-hó-chee-tsa u-ha-déet'

I promise, you will like it so much that you won't feel like leaving.
Ему́ захоте́лось крича́ть.

ye-mú za-ha-tyé-las' kree-chát'

He felt like screaming.
