замеча́ть [za-mee-chát'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - заме́тить

to notice, to mark, to observe, to catch sight of; to remark, to comment

Examples

  • Я ра́ньше и не замеча́ла, как мно́го у тебя́ седы́х воло́с.

    ya rán'-she ee nye za-mee-chá-la, kak mnó-go u tee-byá see-dýh va-lós

    I never noticed before how much gray hair you have.

  • До э́того моме́нта её прису́тствия никто́ не замеча́л.

    da é-ta-va ma-myén-ta ye-yó pree-sútst-vee-ya neek-tó nye za-mee-chál

    Until that moment, no one noticed her presence.

выбира́ть [vy-bee-rát'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - вы́брать

  • Выбира́й скоре́е, за тобо́й уже́ о́чередь!

    Choose faster, there is already a queue behind you!

to fall asleep

    He could not sleep until 4 o'clock in the morning.

  • Де́ти усну́ли пе́ред телеви́зором.

    The children fell asleep in front of the TV.

по́льзоваться [pól'-za-va-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - воспо́льзоваться

  • Его́ кни́ги переста́ли по́льзоваться спро́сом.

    His books are no longer in demand.

  • Она́ не по́льзуется декорати́вной косме́тикой.

позвони́ть [pa-zva-néet'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - звони́ть

to call, to ring

Examples

  • Как доберёшься до ме́ста, позвони́ мне.

    kak da-bee-ryósh-sya da myés-ta, pa-zva-née mnye

    Call me as you get there.

  • Кто-то позвони́л в дверь.

    kto-ta pa-zva-néel v dvyer'

    Someone rang the doorbell.

мы́ться [mýt'-sya] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - помы́ться, вы́мыться

to wash oneself

Examples

  • Они́ мы́лись и стира́ли в реке́.

    a-née mý-lis' ee stee-rá-lee v ree-kyé

    They washed themselves and their clothes in the river.

  • Он мо́ется в ду́ше.

    on mó-ee-tsa v dú-she

    He is taking a shower.

возвраща́ться [vozv-ra-schá-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - верну́ться

to come back, to return

Examples

  • Поторопи́сь, они́ возвраща́ются с мину́ты на мину́ту.

    pa-ta-ra-peés', a-née vazv-ra-schá-yu-tsa s mee-nú-ty na mee-nú-tu

    Hurry up, they are coming back at any minute.

  • Он ушёл и никогда́ бо́льше не возвраща́лся.

    on u-shól ee nee-kag-dá ból'-she nye vazv-ra-schál-sya

    He left and never came back.
