to inflate; (slang) to fool, to trick, to cheat

na-dúî, pa-zhá-luî-sta, shá-ree-kee dlya dee-tyéî

Inflate the balloons for children please.
Тебя́ наду́ли, э́то подде́лка!

се́верное сия́ние [syé-veer-na-ye see-yá-nee-ye] Phrase, neuter

Examples

It takes her two hours to make up.

Why did you put so much makeup? (Where are you going so made up?)

смерка́ться [smeer-ká-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - сме́ркнуться

to grow dusky

Examples

Уже́ смерка́ется, дава́й возвраща́ться обра́тно.

u-zhé smeer-ká-ee-tsa, da-váî vaz-vra-schá-tsa ab-rát-na

It's getting dark, let's go back.
Зимо́й здесь начина́ет смерка́ться дово́льно ра́но.

zee-móî sdyes' na-chee-ná-eet smeer-ká-tsa da-vól'-na rá-na

In winter it starts getting dark quite early here.

чо́каться [chó-ka-tsa] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - чо́кнуться

to clink (glasses)

Examples

По́сле 12-го уда́ра кура́нтов все чо́каются бока́лами с шампа́нским.

pós-lye dvee-ná-tsa-ta-va u-dá-ra ku-rán-taf fsye chó-ka-yu-tsa ba-ká-la-mee s cham-páns-keem

After the 12th strike of the chimes, everyone clinks glasses with champagne.

to bloom, to blossom

пря́ник [pryá-neek] Noun, masculine

pryanik, spice-cake made of sugar, honey and spices (Russian version of gingerbread)

Examples

Купи́ пря́ников к ча́ю, пожа́луйста.

ku-pée pryá-nee-kaf k chá-yu, pa-zhá-lus-ta

Buy pryaniks for the tea, please.
В старину́ пря́ники испо́льзовались та́кже и в ка́честве ёлочных игру́шек.

f sta-ree-nú pryá-nee-kee ees-pól'-za-va-lees' ták-zhe ee f ká-cheest-vye yó-lach-nyh eeg-rú-shek

In the old days, pryaniks were also used as Christmas tree decoration.

freedom, liberty

Examples

He was given complete freedom of action.
Непра́вильно осуждённый за ограбле́ние сего́дня вы́шел на свобо́ду.
