Examples

заме́тить [za-myé-teet'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - замеча́ть

to notice; to remark, to observe

Examples

Ли́бо он меня́ не заме́тил, ли́бо сде́лал вид, что не заме́тил.

lée-ba on mee-nyá nye za-myé teel, lée-ba sdyé-lal veet, chto nye za-myé-teel

Either he did not notice me, or pretended not to notice.
Ты заме́тила, как он зане́рвничал, когда́ ему́ ста́ли задава́ть неудо́бные вопро́сы?

убежда́ть [u-beezh-dát'] Verb, imperfective. Perfective - убеди́ть

to try to convince, to persuade

Examples

Его́ не пришло́сь до́лго убежда́ть.

ye-vó nye preesh-lós' dól-ga u-beezh-dát'

It didn't take long to convince him.
Вчера́ они́ нас убежда́ли соверше́нно в обра́тном.

fchee-rá a-née nas u-beezh-dá-lee sa-veer-shén-na v ab-rát-nam

Yesterday they were trying to convince us of the opposite.

споко́йный [spa-kóî-nyî] Adjective

calm, quiet; placid, serene; composed

Examples

У неё споко́йный и миролюби́вый хара́ктер.

u nee-yó spa-kóî-nyî ee mee-ra-lyu-bée-vyî ha-rák-tyer

She has a calm and peaceful character.
О́зеро в э́тот час наступа́ющей но́чи каза́лось споко́йнее обыкнове́нного.

ó-zye-ra v é-tat chas nas-tu-pá-yu-schyeî nó-chee ka-zá-las' spa-kóî-nye-ye a-byk-na-vyén-na-va

переста́ть [pee-ree-stát'] Verb, perfective. Imperfective - перестава́ть

to stop, to cease, to quit

Examples

Он слегка́ увлёкся и переста́л обраща́ть внима́ние на происходя́щее вокру́г.
