Dasvidaniya - Meaning in Russian

Dasvidaniya in Russian means goodbye.

Dasvidaniya is actually two words, not one: до (until) and свида́ния (meeting / date). So literally it means “until the next meeting“.

Dasvidaniya is a formal way to say goodbye and should be used with people you don’t know and those older than you.

Although, you don’t have to say dasvidaniya every time you want to say goodbye in a formal tone. There are a few farewells in Russian that you can use, for example:

Хоро́шего дня!
[ha-ró-shee-va dnya]
Have a nice day!

Всего́ хоро́шего!
[vsee-vó ha-ró-shee-va]
All the best!

Всего́ до́брого!
[vsee-vó dób-ra-va]
Lit: All the kindness!

If you want to say bye in an informal tone, you can use paka (bye in Russian) or other informal Russian farewells.
